Headline UN Academic Impact Screens Film on "Jewel of Muscat"
Caption Description Kiyotaka Akasaka (right), Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, hosts a special screening of the documentary, “A Voyage in History”, as part of the “Unlearning Intolerance” series organized by the UN Academic Impact. The documentary traces the story of the Jewel of Muscat, the reconstruction of an Arab-style ship that sailed from Oman to China over a thousand years ago and capsized on the return. The twenty-first century reconstruction, true to exact historical detail, was built as a joint effort by the Governments of Oman and Singapore.
Pictured with Mr. Akasaka is Lyutha S. Al-Mughairy, Permanent Representative of Oman to the UN.
