Headline Workers Install New Windows at Secretariat Building
Caption Description In the course of the renovation of UN Headquarters under the Capital Master Plan (CMP), the 60-year-old original single-pane glass panels are being replaced with state-of-the-art double-glazed panels, offering better insulation and blast protection. The complete replacement of the Secretariat Building glass curtain wall is the single most important step in making UN Headquarters more energy efficient. After the renovation, the energy consumption of the Headquarters complex will be at least 50% lower, as compared to existing conditions. Greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by at least 45%.
