A press conference was held on World Toilet Day, observed for the first time by the United Nations. The General Assembly adopted a resolution on “Sanitation for All” in July of this year, designating 19 November for the observance.

Headline Cholera Treatment Centres Established in Haiti

The centre is among several established by local health authorities and international groups, including the UN World Health Organization (WHO), to separate cholera patients and combat the spread of the disease. Since mid-October 2010 cholera in Haiti has affected 11, 000 people and claimed 700 lives.
