Caption Description View of the living room of Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld's apartment in New York City. The photograph shows the specially made sectional sofa and 18th century stools with matching upholstery.  The desk, of birch root, belonged to Mr. Hammarskjöld's mother.  Over the sofa is a painting by Carl Kilgerg, called the "Deluge"; the one over the desk, called "The Track", is by Leander Engstrom, of Lapland. May 1954.
