Headline Hungarian Refugees Arrive in Yugoslavia
Caption Description A group of Hungarian refugees walking along a snowy road soon after crossing the border into Yugoslavia somewhere near Palic early last month.  Soon afterward they were transported to reception centres on the Adriatic seacoast.
Out of 187,830 Hungarians who left their country since last October, 17,087 took refuge in Yugoslavia.  Of those, at the beginning of the month, 237 had been resettled and 976 had returned to Hungary.  Yugoslavia is therefore still providing accommodations, care and maintenance for 15,874 refugees.
Yugoslavia housed many of the refugees in hotels of the well-known resort of Crkvenica, on the Adriatic, but these hotels will have to be vacated by the refugees for the tourist season and it will be necessary for the Yugoslav authorities to build at least two large camps to accommodate about 10,000 persons.  The cost of such camps is estimated at more than $4,000,000.
