U Win, the new Permanent Representative of Burma to the United Nations, came to Headquarters today to sign the Protocol on Amending the Slavery Convention of 1926, and the Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others: he also deposited with the U.N. his Government's instrument of ratification of the Genocide Convention.
This picture shows U Win signing one of the documents. U Kyaw Min, of the Burmese delegation, and Mr. S. Kiernik, of the Treaty Section, U.N. Office of Legal Affairs, witness the signing.
Burma is the 51st country to accede to the Genocide Convention.
