Fisheries Development in Panama
Caption Description
To ensure the rational exploitation of the shrimp industry, one of the most important sources of revenue in Panama, a national fisheries research laboratory has been set up for specialized study of shrimp resources. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is assisting the Government in this programme.
Like the larger shrimps, the smaller species are also carefully processed. After weighing, they are distributed in small pails to workers who peel them by hand before packing and freezing is carried out. Photograph shows workman weighing a batch os the smaller specie of shrimps at the packing plant. [No exact date]
