Headline
Aid for Uganda Rural Blind
Caption Description
The Uganda Foundation for the Blind has established in that country certain centres for the training and employment of the rural blind. Main purpose of this project is to train specially selected villagers who, on return to their homes, will teach the blind how to become more independent economically. Agriculture and handicrafts are the main subjects taught. The United Nations has provided advice and financial and technical assistance to this project.
A blind trainee is seen here doing some planting on the Foundation's farm at Salama. A knotted string is used to help him in his work. After one or two years at Salama, the trainees return to their homes. [No exact date]
