The Security Council today continued its debate on the downing of the Korean 747 airliner on 31 August/1 September. Statements were made by representatives of the United States, the Soviet Union, Japan, the Philippines, Liberia and Sweden. Also at this morning’s meeting, the United States, in co-operation with Japan, presented a recording of what the United States representative said were communications between a Soviet pilot involved in the incident and his ground control.
