New Homes for Refugee Farmers in Greece
Caption Description
Increasing numbers of refugee farming families are being settled in the village of Vigla, erected by the Greek Government in September 1957, with the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The village, which started with some 48 homes, has expanded considerably. Sixty additional homes have just been completed and the village now boasts a permanent community centre where a wide range of vocational training is being provided for the refugees.
An aged refugee (left) and his family are seen on their way to one of the new houses which has been assigned to them in Vigla.
