Headline United Nations Issues Commemorative Stamp

Caption Description A United Nations commemorative stamp calling attention to the refugee problem has been issued today at U.N. Headquarters. The stamp, the first commemorative issue of 1953, is printed in 3-cent and 5-cent denominations. It depicts a homeless family and bears the wording “Protection for Refugees – Protection de Refugies”. The United Nations emblem is shown at top left.
The U.N. Postal Administration received a record number of orders, the stamped envelopes fill these four pick-up bags.
