Headline South Sudan Signs Memorandum of Understanding with UNAIDS on Reproductive Health Rights
Caption Description The South Sudan National Ministry of Health recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS), on the right to health in the education sector. The commitment will see the incorporation of sexual education in the school curriculum to create awareness among young people to guard against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
Michel Sidibé, Executive Director of UNAIDS, meets with staff of the Ministry of Health dressed in Lauo, a traditional South Sudanese dress of the Shiluk tribe. Shiluk use the Lauo to welcome a guest, as well as elders or higher respected people in the community, as a sign of respect.
