More than 150 participants, including cartographers and representatives of 33 countries as well as observers from 10 interested organizations, attended the Third Regional Cartographic Conference for the Americas which opened at United Nations Headquarters on 19 February. Bi Jilong, Under-Secretary-General for Technical Co-operation for Development (DTCD), addressed the opening meeting. The Third Conference which is scheduled to conclude on 1 March has before it for discussion more than 50 technical papers.
