United Nations Providing Further Assistance to Telecommunications Training Centres in Malaysia

The Government of Malaysia is presently receiving additional assistance from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as executing agency, in completing the task of establishing a comprehensive training scheme at the new Telecommunications Training Centre in Kuala Lumpur and in establishing two Regional Training Units in Jesselton (Sabah) and Kuching (Sarawak).
During the new project, the probationer technician programme will be revised and enlarged to take full advantage of the facilities in the new Centre, a comprehensive series of in-service training courses will be developed, and a programme for the initial and in-service training of new engineers will be established – all at the main Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Also training will be offered in telecommunication traffic, a course which was not foreseen under the earlier project but which has now become an urgent training need for all branches of telecommunication traffic.
Under the direction of their instructor, students receive a practical training session in the Switching Room of the Telecommunications Training Centre in Kuala Lumpur. [Exact date unknown]
