Caption Description
A view of the snow-covered garden of the UN headquarters. At centre is the statue by the Soviet sculptor Evgeny Vuchetich, titled ""Let Us Beat Swords into Plowshares"". The statue, which is located in the North garden, was presented to the United Nations on 4 December 1959. It represents the figure of a man holding a hammer in one hand and, in the other, a sword which he is making into a ploughshare, symbolizing man's desire to put an end to war and convert the means of destruction into creative tools for the benefit of all mankind.
