Manufacturing of Science Teaching Equipment in Burma
Caption Description
All types of science teaching equipment are being manufactured in the working of the Department of Physics, at Rangoon Arts and Science University. Three sections are concerned with this programme: Metal and Wood, Optics, and Glass Blowing. A full time staff member is involved in this work, but students work during their spare time on a voluntary basis to produce the equipment, which is distributed to schools. These efforts are assisted by UNICEF and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) who is providing the services of a specialist in Production and Design, Mr. H. J. Adelsbarg (UK). A local counterpart, who will eventually take over, will be trained in England.
