Headline West New Guinea 
Caption Description West New Guinea (West Irian) comprises all of the island of New Guinea west of the 141st E. Meridian and all the off-lying islands west of the 141st meridian and east of a line which, starting north of the Aru Island, runs north-west between Ceram and Miscol, then north to enclose the Boo Island, Poelau Gag, and Poelau Sajang. Total area is 160,000 square miles. The indigenous inhabitants are usually referred to as "Papuans." No complete census of this territory has yet been possible.
