The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) cleared more than 24,000 landmines from a land area of more than 37 hectares (93 acres) around a health facility and primary school in Lobonok Payam, then handed the land back over to the local community. UNMAS has been operating in the area since 2008, carrying out Mine Risk Education, Stockpile Clearance, Explosive Remnants of War Spot Tasks, Battle Area and Minefield Clearance.
UNMAS staff conduct a mine awareness programme at St. Mathew Basic School.
