Headline UNMIL Peacekeepers Prepare for Troop Withdrawal
Caption Description The United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) is withdrawing its military presence from the country as part of the termination of its mandate scheduled for 30 March, 2018. UNMIL was established in September 2003 to monitor a ceasefire agreement in Liberia, following the conclusion of the Second Liberian Civil War.

Members of the Ukrainian Aviation Unit serving with UNMIL load a helicopter into an Antonov cargo plane at Roberts International Airport, one of the last three helicopters being flown back to thier home country. More than eighty Ukrainian peacekeepers have already left the mission; twenty-five will remain for two weeks more to finalise the contingent withdrawal.
