Headline Portraits of Indigenous Peoples - Cree
Caption Description Grand Chief Wilton Littlechild from the Cree community.

The Cree, or Nêhiyaw (néhiyaw), are primarily residing in Canada and have an estimated population of 392,420 people. The traditional hat is hand made out of bald eagle feathers and horse manes. It is only worn by male leaders (Chiefs). Eagle feathers are considered as the highest mark of respect. While most Cree reside in Canada, there are also smaller communities in the United States.
