The Secretary-General is in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he will chair the biannual session of the UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination, also known as the CEB, which brings together the heads of the UN system organizations. During their biannual session, the Chief Executives Board Members will reflect on current world affairs as they affect and are related to the UN system. They will also engage in deliberations on 'Adapting to New Realities: Leveraging the UN80 Initiative' and 'Upholding Respect for International Law'. Bringing together participants from some 500 indigenous groups worldwide, the Forum is focusing on the theme ""Indigenous Children and Youth"". Women in indigenous costume participate in today's session.

A view of indigenous children from the Embera people, displaced by armed conflict. There are over two million internally displaced persons in Colombia and while forced displacement is always a very difficult experience, it is doubly catastrophic for indigenous communities. Indigenous culture is closely linked to the land and displacement often leads to the total collapse of traditional authority and cultural patterns.

In order to highlight the need for more ambitious action on the SDGs and to continue to engage with the general public, the 17 Goals are being showcased in Times Square this week, inviting everyone to stand behind the Sustainable Development Goals in advance of the UN General Assembly high-level week.
A view of one of the classrooms with partial roof at the “25 de Junho” School, located in Beira, Mozambique. The school is currently hosting around 5,000 children ranging in ages from five to 14. Organized in three shifts, starting at 6 am, the students fill classrooms which take up to 90 students. Part of the school was built by the community and completed last year. During the cyclones windows were broken and most of the tin roofs flew off, except for some parts that now hang in pieces over the students.
This photograph is part of a series of images made in the days leading up to the arrival of Secretary-General António Guterres in Mozambique. Mr. Guterres visited the country to take stock of the recovery efforts in the areas impacted by cyclones Idai and Kenneth, which hit just a few weeks apart in March and April 2019.
More than 600 people perished during Idai alone; the effects of the two cyclones combined left approximately 2.2 million people in need of assistance. The United Nations and its humanitarian partners have since been on the ground supporting the Government’s efforts - assisting through contributing to the coordination of international support, distributing food, drinking water and medicine, and providing shelter to those displaced.

Headline Secretary-General Visits New Zealand
Caption Description Secretary-General António Guterres (left) is greeted in the traditional Maori style of ""hongi"" - pressing noses together and touching foreheads - during a welcome ceremony upon his arrival to New Zealand.
Mr. Guterres traveled to the South Pacific to spotlight the issue of climate change ahead of the Climate Action Summit to be convened in September 2019 in New York. The trip took him to New Zealand, Fiji, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. In each country, Mr. Guterres met with government leaders, civil society representatives and youth groups, to hear from those already impacted by climate change and who are also successfully engaging in meaningful climate action.
