Headline INCAP Helps Solve Nutrition Problems

Caption Description The institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama (INCAP) was established to deal with the problem of nutrition in Central America. This unique co-operative venture was created, and is supported, by six Central American countries - Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. The programme is assisted by nutrition consultants from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) provides medical personnel to INCAP. The Institute studies nutrition problems of the area, works out ways in which they might be solved by working in close co-operation with the health departments of the member countries.
Education and training is an important part of INCAP's programme, A two-year course course for nutritionists and dietitians, and a specialized course in public health nutrition for Latin American dietitians are given by INCAP. [No exact date]
