Headline Nepal's Culture
Caption Description The cultural achievements of the Nepalese people are displayed in the rich art and architecture which abound throughout the country. The culture reflects a mixture of the Buddhist Lamaism of the north and of the Hinduism of the south. Katmandu alone contains some 350 Hindu temples--intricately carved and richly decorated.

Masked dancers representing the goddess Kali and the god Bhairabs perform in front of the Nyatpola Dewal (a five-story temple) during the festival of Indra Jatra in Bhatgaon. [Exact date unknown]
