Headline Housing Estate in Korangi
Caption Description In 1959 the first refugees, mostly Muslim refugees from India living in the slum areas in Karachi, were moved to a new Housing Estate in Korangi, which is 40 miles from Karachi. 20,000 houses have been built in the Estate and when the scheme is completed 60,000 will be in the area. A refugee pays Rs 8 a month and after 20 years the house becomes his property.

Here is a partial view of the shopping area at the Housing Estate in Korangi.
