Caption Description The Government of Pakistan is reorganizing its Textile Institute to train supervisory technical personnel to staff industries with the help of experts from the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Special Fund. An ILO expert in jute productivity advises the jute technology section of the Textile Institute and helps to train instructors for the institute and for industry.

Porters unload "pucca" bales (better quality jute) from sampans. Workers in teams of three men carry the bales of jute which weigh 400 pounds each. The Zareen Baling Company produces about 800,000 bales annually, of which 700,000 bales are exported. [Exact date unknown]
