Chinju Rebuilding on First Anniversary of Korean Aggression
Caption Description
On 24 September 1950, when the United Nations forces recaptured Chjnju, 50 percent of the city and its suburbs had been destroyed and 60,000 of its residents were homeless. Today on the first anniversary of the aggression in Korea, Chinju is rebuilding itself rapidly and, once again, its people look ahead to better times.
The bombed out walls of a church stand out starkly against the sky.
