Aftermath of the War in Korea
Caption Description
The primary school in the village of Eum Pyung, north of Seoul, was located next to a strategic ridge and was demolished by artillery fire of UN forces during their march on Seoul. There were formerly 23 teachers and 1300 students in the school. Twelve teachers are left and students are trickling back as their families return from the surrounding hills. Korean schools, being some of the best buildings in the country, were used by both sides as barracks and headquarters. [October 1950]
