Canadian Gift to the United Nations
Caption Description
On 27 March 1953, the Canadian Government presented seven nickel-silver doors for the General Assembly building, public entrance to the United Nations. The doors were executed by Ernest Cormier in nickel because of the particular significance of that metal to Canada which is the world's primary producer. Each door is faced with four bas-relief panels symbolizing peace, justice, truth and fraternity, ideals upon which the United Nations is founded.
The bas-relief figure symbolizing justice.
