Community Development in Cameroon
Caption Description
The Cameroon Government has begun a community development programme in the country, assisted by the United Nations Technical Assistance Programme and the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). With the aid of UNESCO, the Ministry of National Education started a rural youth project to stimulate community activity by means of classes in such subjects as civics, home improvement and agriculture. The United States Peace Corps also is aiding the programme.
The woman with a child is head of the corn mill society in Bamendankwe. Peace Corps volunteers are helping to continue the societies, which were begun by a missionary. [Exact date unknown]
