Somali Seeks to Uplift Country's Health Standards
Caption Description
Somalia has completed its five-year health plan but is continuing its efforts to eradicate recurring diseases and boost medical care to all sections of the community. A World Health Organization (WHO) team is assisting in the operation aimed at eradicating malaria, and also in case-finding, treatment, prevention and the training of personnel in the fight against tuberculosis. UN experts have also assisted Somalia in the development of a nursing service, a public health administration and the economical management of medical stores and pharmacies. UNICEF is providing basic health equipment, teaching aids, supplies for disease control, transport and training grants.
