Caption Description The new Atlantic Railroad in Colombia links Bogotá, the capital, with the cities on the Atlantic coast of the country. The new rail link, which is scheduled to be formally inaugurated at the end of this month, will provide direct connections between Bogotá and Santa Marta, the northernmost coastal city on the Atlantic Ocean some 967 kilometers away and which will, in turn, be linked with the Pacific Ocean port of Buenaventura, about 1,481 kilometers to the southwest. The International Bank loaned some $38.5 million to meet the foreign exchange requirements of this project.
