Thirty-three medical teams provided by Red Cross and Red Crescent societies as well as by governments are at work in the Congo under the United Nations Civilian Operation. The teams - ten of them sent by governments - are from 22 countries and are staffed by a total of 157 doctors, nurses and technicians.
At the Kintambo Hospital in this city, nine doctors and 16 laboratory technicians and nurses man the Swiss medical team which runs the 650-bed institution. Mr. Siegenthaler, a laboratory technician, taking blood from a Congolese child for a malaria test. November 1960.
