Headline
Radio and Television Facilities at U.N. Headquarters
Caption Description
As a vital part of the U.N. Department of Public Information, the United Nations Radio Division is dedicated to the over-all policy of keeping the peoples of the world fully informed of the aims and activities of the U.N. It operates a world broadcasting service that covers every continent, and maintains a staff of approximately 90 persons, drawn from 29 different countries. It differs from other broadcasting systems in that it is primarily reportorial in character. Daily news reports to Member States are essentially the same and all programs are monitored or subject to monitor by any Member government.
A section of the Central Recording Room at U.N. Headquarters, with four of the ""Ampex"" tape recording machines used by the Division.
