Health Improvement in Gabon
Caption Description
As part of the national health development scheme, the Gabonese Government has been establishing new maternal and child health services and improving sanitary facilities. The School of Nursing of Gabon is co-operating in the project and has been offering a two-year course in nursing, with an additional year's study for those wishing to become graduate midwives. Training also is given to practical nurses, nutritionists, medical assistants and others in related fields. The World Health Organization (WHO) has been aiding the project since 1961.
Students, who are studying to become medical assistants, practice taking each other's blood pressure. [Exact date unknown]
