United Nations Women's Guild Presents $24,000 Collected for UNKRA
Caption Description
A gift of $24,000 collected by the United Nations Women's Guild from visitors to the United Nations was presented to Lt. Gen. John B. Coulter, Agent-General of the UN Korean Reconstruction Agency (UNKRA) in a ceremony at UN Headquarters today. These funds will be used to establish a children's ward at the Tongnae Rehabilitation Centre in Korea, a joint project of the Republic of Korea and UNKRA, designed originally for disabled veterans, but which will now treat Korean civilians as well.
This photograph shows Dr. Luther Evans, Director-General of UNESCO, addressing the gathering at the ceremony. At right is Mr. Benjamin Cohen, Assistant Secretary General of the UN, in charge of Public Information, who acted as Master of Ceremonies.
