Chickens for Korean Relief
Caption Description
As part of a long-range program for rehabilitating Korea's egg and meat production, 70,000 white leghorn hatching eggs from Indiana, USA, were sent to Korea in April 1952 by the United Nations Korean Reconstruction Agency (UNKRA). The eggs, donated by the Heifer Project Committee, were placed in Korean incubators where 52,000 hatched 21 days after arrival. A special chicken-run was recently constructed to accommodate the chickens at the Provincial Farm in Anyang, South Korea. Shown here is a section of the new chicken-run, as Mr. Ro-Yonl-Han (inside fencing), Farm Manager, feeds the chickens. On the outside, nearest camera, is Mr. McGimpsey, of the United Nations Civil Assistance Command in Korea (UNCACK).
