Helping the Koreans to Help Themselves
Caption Description
With the financial and technical support of the United Nations Korean Reconstruction Agency (UNKRA), voluntary agencies all over the world are helping to improve the economy and the social welfare of Korean villages long cut off from any but the most primitive facilities. ""Houses for Korea, Inc.,"" one of these agencies, has a team of specialists at work in Kunyangjang-ni, a village in Kyonggi Province. Holding pre-crop rainfall until the growing season is a problem throughout the Korean rice-paddy area.
In Kunyangjang-ni, UNKRA experts confer with village representatives and a development team from ""Houses for Korea, Inc."", on the location of an irrigation dam to help store the water until it is needed.
