Glass cutters at work in the cutting room of the Inchon Flat Glass Plant, measuring and trimming the first sheets of flat glass manufactured in Korea.
Situated on the waterfront at Inchon, the plant was officially opened on 30 September by President Syngman Rhee and will be operated by a Korean firm, the Hankuk Glass Industry Company, Limited. It was built by the United Nations Korean Reconstruction Agency (UNKRA) at a cost of $3,629,000 and Hwan 600,000,000 (the current rate is 500 Hwan to $l). The plant has a capacity of 12 million square feet annually.
