Headline Housing Development for Industrial Workers in Korea
Caption Description A new community, including 148 homes, bachelors' quarters, a school and a community center is being built on paddy land adjacent to the village of Sinki-ri, to house the 800 persons who will work at the Mungyong cement plant, now under construction by the UN Korean Reconstruction Agency (UNKRA).
Here are the first six homes and the community center, now completed. UNKRA provided imported building materials; all the houses, built of earth-and-cement blocks, will be of Korean type, some with Western facilities; the school will serve some 600 children from the entire area.
