For some time to come the poorer countries of the world will have to rely on agriculture to raise their living standards and supply the capital they need to create industries. Agricultural production must therefore be increased. This requires tractors, fertilizers, new and better seeds, vast irrigation schemes, land reforms.

British Commando units attached to the United Nations forces in Korea have made several daring raids deep into enemy territory. During one such raid, Commandos of the 41st Royal British Marines swarm ashore from amtracks 8 miles south of Songjin, North Korea, where they destroyed a stretch of railroad track breaking an important enemy supply line.

Headline Joint UNKRA-FAO Agricultural Mission in Korea 
Caption Description A twelve-man team of agricultural experts, jointly sponsored by the United Nations Korean Reconstruction Agency (UNKRA) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is now in Korea and has begun its six-month assignment of developing a five-year agricultural rehabilitation program in Korea. Among the places visited by the team was the Suwon Experimental Agricultural Farm, where this photograph was taken as Mr. Mark Williamson (left), Head of the Mission, was being shown one of the many varieties of rice grown on the farm.
