Headline Ethiopian Soldier Amputee Visits United Nations
Caption Description Private Gabremicail Tumebo, a member of Emperor Haile Selassie's Imperial Bodyguard, today visited United Nations Headquarters. Private Tumebo lost his leg on the battlefield in Korea last year, while serving as a member of the UN forces there. Through the efforts of a US Army nurse, the World Veterans Federation, the American Veterans Committee and various other organizations and individuals, it was possible to bring him to the United States for the fitting of an artificial leg.  This picture, taken in front of the UN Headquarters buildings shows Gabremicail Tumebo (right) shaking hands with Curtis Campaigne, Jr., National Chairman of the American Veterans Committee.
