Headline International Day for Mine Awareness and Action
Caption Description Ten-year-old Suleiman Fatul Saim, from Dar Al Salam, North Darfur, suffered burns to more than 90 per cent of his body when his brother detonated an unexploded device that he found near their house in November 2006.
Each year 4 April is observed as International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, to focus worldwide attention on the need for eliminating the threat of landmines and explosive remnants of war.
