Caption Description Nathalie Broadhurst Estival, Deputy Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations, introduces draft resolution titled “2025 United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development”. Ms. Broadhurst Estival said that the consensus forged during negotiations is proof that all can come together to define a cooperation framework on a subject of shared interest vital to existence under the aegis of the UN.

The General Assembly adopted eight resolutions, covering issues that included promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, safe water and sanitation in health-care facilities, sustainable use of oceans and security challenges posed by synthetic drugs. Acting without a vote the Assembly adopted the draft resolution “L.24” on enhancing action to address the global public health and security challenges posed by synthetic drugs, encouraging States to explore innovative approaches to more effectively address the problem.
