Bahrain Presents Gift to United Nations
Caption Description
Today, Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali accepted, on behalf of the United Nations, a gift entitled “Date Palm” -- a miniature date palm tree made of gold and pearls. The gift, from the Amir of Bahrain, Isa Bin Sulman Al-Khalifa, was presented to the United Nations by Mohamed Bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa, Bahrain's Minister for Foreign Affairs. Jeweller Mohamed Al-Manaei created the tree, which has been permanently placed in the corridor between the Security Council and the Trusteeship Council Chambers.
