Caption Description
Estonia presented the United Nations with this gift of a cloth sculpture entitled "Mother Tree" by the artist Anu Raud. The work is composed of Estonian national folk costumes made up of nine wool skirts donated by women from the islands of Kihnu and Manija and it symbolizes the eternal passing on of life by mothers. The gift was presented by President Lennart Meri on 21 October 1995 and is now located on CB-2nd Floor in the neck area between the Conference Building and the General Assembly Building.
