Headline Advocacy Performance Event to End Harmful Practices against Women and Girls
Caption Description The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) organized a high-level advocacy event called “The Time is now! Let’s end harmful practices against women and girls by 2030”, to increase global visibility to harmful practices such as FGM (female genital mutilation), child marriage and son preference. The event took place in the General Assembly Hall and featured music, theater, dance and creativity to highlight how a collective effort, political will and cultural investments are imperative to end harmful practices by 2030. ""Elimination of FGM and other harmful practices"" is Sustainable Development Goal target 5.3.
UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador Ashley Judd speaks to the audience at today's event.
