Headline Jet d'Eau in Geneva During COP1 of Minamata Convention on Mercury
Caption Description The first meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP1), convened by UN Environment, took place from 24 to 29 September 2017 at the International Conference Centre in Geneva. With hashtag #Make Mercury History, the Conference brought the world together to celebrate the entry into force of the Convention and the initiation of work to support the implementation of this newest multilateral environmental agreement. The global treaty, which seeks to protect human health and the environment from the adverse effects of mercury, entered into force on 18 August 2017.
The Jet d'Eau, a landmark fountain in Geneva, is seen with a brilliant colour in the course of COP1, #Make Mercury History.
