UNMAS Conducts Landmine Clearance Assessment in Aru Junction
Caption Description
The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) conducts a quality assurance mission in a mine clearance site in Aru Junction, South Sudan. Local citizens had discovered an anti-tank mine and two anti-personnel mines while clearing land used for making charcoal. UNMAS joined MineTech International, a landmine clearance contractor, and MineWolf Systems, a landmine clearance technologies and services company, to manually clear the site, until it was safe for the surrounding community to return.
