Headline Signature Panel for Campaign to End Modern Slavery
Caption Description A young visitor to the Palais des Nations in Geneva adds her name to a symbolic signature panel in support of the “50 for Freedom” campaign to end modern slavery. The campaign, to be launched officially on the World Day Against Child Labour (12 June), aims at promoting ratification and implementation of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Protocol on Forced Labour, with the first 50 Member States ratifying it by 2018. The Protocol was adopted by the International Labour Conference in 2014 and calls on governments to adopt stronger measures to prevent all forms of forced labour, of human trafficking and of slavery affecting about 21 million men, women and children in the world at present.
