Headline Secretary-General Celebrates Completion of "Four Freedoms Park"
Caption Description Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (second from right) joins hands with, from left, William vanden Heuvel, Chairman of the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute; Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, granddaughter of the late United States President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt; and Joseph Torsella, U.S. Representative for Management and Reform to the UN; at the inauguration of Four Freedoms Park in New York City against a backdrop of the East River and the United Nations Secretariat.
Dedicated to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and named for his belief in the four essentials freedoms of speech, worship, from want and from fear, the park is the work of famed architect Louis Kahn and occupies a narrow stretch of land on Roosevelt Island.
